Dr. Tasheena Thomas-Maccow, RN, BSc, M.A., PhD.

Dr. Tasheena Thomas, RN, BSc, M.A., PhD. was born on the Island of Saint Martin and raised in the beautiful village of Colombier. She is a loving wife and mother of 3 beautiful children.

At a very tender age, she first developed a love for social work and always knew that helping and care for others was her passion.

After leaving St. Martin to continue her higher education, she earned a Masters degree in Social Work and Psychology, a PHD in philosophy with a focus in Heavy Drug Addiction from the American Intercontinental University, as well as a certification in the fundamental biology of plants and their medicinal value.

Dr. Tasheena Thomas, RN, BSc, M.A., PhD. is the Interim Director & Senior Counselor at the Turning Point Drug & Rehabilitation Center where she provides individual and group counseling to clients struggling with dependencies and addiction.

Dr. Tasheena Thomas, RN, BSc, M.A., PhD. works diligently to fulfill a personal commitment to:

·      Raising awareness surrounding substance abuse issues.

·      Engaging in community outreach to educate the public on the detriments and dangers of substance abuse. 

Dr. Tasheena Thomas, RN, BSc, M.A., PhD. aims to help her clients maintain sobriety and a positive lifestyle, utilizing personal qualities such as compassion, patience, understanding, and sensitivity to better enhance her profession. She devotes a great deal of time, energy, and hope in her clients and prides herself in the recovery successes that her clients achieve.

Ms. Tyanna Knight

Tyanna Knight is a mental health professional with training in substance abuse treatment and other relevant areas. Ms. Knight holds a Master of Science in Psychology & Neuroscience of Mental Health from King’s College London. She also studied at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Criminal Justice.

Tyanna gained valuable experience volunteering at a group home in the United States of America where she worked with mental health clients on their reintegration into society. She also obtained experience in the field of hospitality, and in her voluntary work at a shelter for battered women, where she gained useful skills that aid her ability to relate to the abused, confused, misunderstood, and vulnerable.

Involved in community outreach from an early age, Tyanna served as a member of the Turning Point Extreme Prevention Team band for several years playing both the xylophone and drums. She was also a member of the renowned FAMU Gospel Choir, which has performed throughout the United States and beyond, and has gained experience in band leadership. With additional knowledge of music theory and drumming skills gained at Florida A&M University, she was able to advance her talents.

Tyanna is passionate about music and artistic expression, both of which she now shares with the residents of the Turning Point Foundation.

Mr. Oliver Wilson

Program Director

Oliver Wilson is a devoted husband and father, a respected leader within his church and community, and a passionate health and fitness enthusiast. He is known for his unwavering integrity, disciplined work ethic, and ability to lead with both strength and compassion.

Oliver’s professional journey began in 1998 at Caribbean Teleview Services (St. Maarten Cable TV), where he worked as a Work/Study Student while attending the University of St. Maarten. His commitment to growth was evident early on; even after leaving the island in 2001 to pursue higher education, he returned each summer to continue contributing to the company.

He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems with a major in Computer Science (Software Systems emphasis) and a Minor in Business Administration from Andrews University in 2005. Upon graduation, Oliver returned home and advanced through roles at St. Maarten Cable TV, first as an IT Assistant and later as an IT Technician, while also supporting the IT and Billing Departments of both Saint Martin Mobiles and East Caribbean Cellular.

In March 2020, Oliver shifted his focus toward service in the nonprofit sector, joining the Turning Point Foundation as a Resident Monitor. His natural leadership, organizational strengths, and commitment to accountability quickly propelled him upward. By 2021, he became Program Manager, overseeing departmental operations, onboarding and mentoring new staff, and coordinating with stakeholders to enhance program impact. In 2024, he was appointed Program Director, where he now leads organizational strategy, policy development, and accountability processes, ensuring transparency and excellence in service delivery.

With over four years of proven leadership in administrative management and program development, Oliver has built a reputation as an innovative and creative professional who strengthens organizations by fostering collaboration, enhancing efficiency, and building strong community partnerships.

At every stage of his journey, Oliver has remained grounded in his values of faith, family, and service. Whether guiding his team, mentoring individuals in need, or serving his church and community, he continues to inspire others through his dedication, resilience, and vision for positive change.

Mr. Charles R. Thomas

Program Manager

Charles R. Thomas is an experienced operations and program management professional with a career spanning more than two decades in aviation, construction, and nonprofit leadership. He spent over 20 years at Princess Juliana International Airport, where he coordinated operations to ensure safe and efficient airport services.

Following his time in aviation, Charles expanded his expertise into project management with ALCO Construction and Morgan Resorts before moving into the nonprofit sector. He now serves as Program Manager at Turning Point Foundation, where he oversees daily operations, staff coordination, and program development to support the organization’s mission.

Charles holds a bachelor’s degree from Atlantic International University and has earned multiple certifications in aviation management, safety, crisis response, and first aid. Known for his leadership, professionalism, and commitment to service, he brings a wealth of knowledge and a steady, solutions-oriented approach to every role he undertakes.

Ms. Menghua Zeng

Menghua Zeng is an Administrative Assistant & Bookkeeper at Turning Point Foundation, where she has been a valued team member since February 2022. In her role, she supports the organization with bookkeeping, records management, and a wide range of administrative tasks that help keep things running smoothly.

With a strong background in both finance and administration, Menghua has experience in bookkeeping, data entry, inventory management, and customer service. She graduated from St. Maarten Academy in 2009 and has since completed several professional certifications in business management, bookkeeping, and finance with Coursera and the International Business Management Institute.

Known for her professional and collaborative spirit, Menghua is recognized for building strong relationships, communicating with ease, and maintaining a positive “can-do” attitude.

Mr. Stuart Adams

Internal Control | Project Manager

Stuart Adams has a strong background in administration, project coordination, and client support. Over the years, he has gained valuable experience across both the public and nonprofit sectors, working in roles that demanded organization, teamwork, and adaptability.

Currently, Stuart serves at Turning Point, where he manages administrative, culinary, and project-related responsibilities to help ensure smooth operations and support for both staff and clients. His previous roles include serving as a Social Affairs Liaison and working in the Parliament of Sint Maarten, where he supported both leadership and teams with office management, client services, and community-focused projects.

With a background in European Studies and International Communication Management, along with certifications in payroll, first aid, and airport platform security, Stuart combines academic knowledge with practical skills. Fluent in English and with working knowledge of Dutch, he brings versatility to diverse work environments.

Known for his reliability and ability to work independently when needed, Stuart is passionate about contributing to organizations that make a positive difference in people’s lives.

Mrs. Louisa McAlmont Burgan

Louisa McAlmont Burgan is a proud native of the Republic of Guyana. She began her education at Blairmont Primary School and later attended the Carnegie School of Home Economics, where she pursued a course in culinary arts. Her training and passion for cooking led her to a reputable role with the Government of Guyana as Head Cook at Loo Creek College, a position she honorably held for over ten years.

After migrating to the island of St. Maarten, Mrs. Burgan brought her skills and dedication to several establishments, including the Dawn Beach Hotel, Cake House Restaurant, and the American University of the Caribbean. Her professionalism and consistency quickly earned her recognition within the hospitality and service industry.

Mrs. Burgan has also been certified by the Health Department of the Government of St. Maarten as a food handler. In 2013, she began her tenure at Turning Point as a cook, where she continues to give outstanding service. Her meticulous attention to detail and unwavering dedication remain hallmarks of her work.

In addition to her culinary expertise, Mrs. Burgan is a certified First Aider, having received her certification from the Red Cross Society. She is known as an exemplary team member—punctual, dependable, and deeply committed to her responsibilities. A valued asset to the organization, Mrs. Burgan takes great pride in her work and in serving others with excellence.
