Dr. Tasheena Thomas-Maccow, RN, BSc, M.A., PhD.

Director and Senior Counselor

Dr. Tasheena Thomas, RN, BSc, M.A., PhD. was born on the Island of Saint Martin and raised in the beautiful village of Colombier. She is a loving wife and mother of 3 beautiful children.

At a very tender age, she first developed a love for social work and always knew that helping and care for others was her passion.

After leaving St. Martin to continue her higher education, she earned a Masters degree in Social Work and Psychology, a PHD in philosophy with a focus in Heavy Drug Addiction from the American Intercontinental University, as well as a certification in the fundamental biology of plants and their medicinal value.

Dr. Tasheena Thomas, RN, BSc, M.A., PhD. is the Interim Director & Senior Counselor at the Turning Point Drug & Rehabilitation Center where she provides individual and group counseling to clients struggling with dependencies and addiction.

Dr. Tasheena Thomas, RN, BSc, M.A., PhD. works diligently to fulfill a personal commitment to:

·      Raising awareness surrounding substance abuse issues.

·      Engaging in community outreach to educate the public on the detriments and dangers of substance abuse. 

Dr. Tasheena Thomas, RN, BSc, M.A., PhD. aims to help her clients maintain sobriety and a positive lifestyle, utilizing personal qualities such as compassion, patience, understanding, and sensitivity to better enhance her profession. She devotes a great deal of time, energy, and hope in her clients and prides herself in the recovery successes that her clients achieve.

Mr. Oliver Wilson

Program Manager

Mr. Oliver Wilson is an amazing husband and father, to his beautiful wife and son. He is a leader in his church and community and an ardent health and fitness enthusiast.

In 1998, Mr. Wilson joined Caribbean Teleview Services, more commonly known as St. Maarten Cable TV as a Work/Study Student where he worked while taking classes at the University of St. Maarten. Even after leaving the island to attend college full-time in 2001, Mr. Wilson returned to work at St. Maarten Cable TV each summer before returning to school in the fall.

Mr. Wilson earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Minor in Business Administration from the University of the Southern Caribbean in 2006.

After graduation, Mr. Wilson returned to St. Maarten and obtained a full-time roll with St. Maarten Cable TV as an IT Assistant, then as an IT Technician.

While serving in that role, Oliver also provided support in the IT & Billing Departments of both Saint Martin Mobiles on the French Side and East Caribbean Cellular where his office was stationed.

In March 2020, Mr. Wilson was persuaded to join the team at the Turning Point Foundation as a Resident Monitor. Utilizing his Minor in Business Administration, along with his impressive organizational skills, and ability to lead with strength and composure he was subsequently promoted to Program Manager the following year, in 2021.

Tyanna Knight

Psychology Intern/Assistant to Director

Tyanna Knight is a current psychology scholar and recent graduate of the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in Tallahassee, Florida. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Criminal Justice and is currently furthering her studies in the field of psychology.

She has obtained experience in the field of hospitality, and in voluntary work at a shelter for battered women, where she gained useful skills that aid her ability to relate to the abused, confused, misunderstood, and vulnerable.

Involved in community outreach from an early age, Tyanna served as a member of the Turning Point Extreme Prevention Team band for a few years playing both the xylophone and drums. She was also a member of the renowned FAMU Gospel Choir, which has performed throughout the United States and beyond, and has gained experience in band leadership. With additional knowledge of music theory and drumming skills gained at Florida A&M University, she was able to advance her talents.

Tyanna is passionate about music and artistic expression, both of which she now shares with the residents of the Turning Point Foundation.
